The WELL Building Standard employs the sustainable built environment as a vehicle to support human health, well-being, and comfort, working cooperatively with the LEED Green Building rating system. It merges the best practices in design and construction with evidence-based health, wellness and biophilic interventions. This allows the design of spaces that help improve the nutrition, fitness, mood, sleep, comfort, performance and safety of its occupants, achieved in part by implementing strategies to encourage healthier and safer lifestyles and reducing occupant exposure to harmful situations.
